Samantha and Patrick’s Engagement Session

Samantha is one of those bride’s that I was immediately excited to work with. She has so much great energy, is absolutely hilarious, and is genuinely such a sweet human. She had actually been the winner of a $500 giveaway that I had in 2020. After our first conversation over the phone of me congratulating her on her win, she became one of my “friend clients” and booked me for her and Patrick’s 2022 wedding.

Samantha called me one day and said “Patrick planned us a day in Providence on the Gondola’s, can you get us in for an engagement session?”

Of course we made it happen, although I warned her I may not make it in time for their Gondola ride. They were cool with it and we began planning the rest of their session.

“Is that our photographer?!”

“Yup!”

Yep, that would be me. I made it (sorta), and was literally running down the street in Providence chasing their Gondola. Patrick’s first time ever meeting me was as I hopped onto his pulled over Gondola, out of breath, as he sipped champagne with his fiancé who couldn’t stop giggling. Talk about a first impression!

We finished our Gondola ride together and got some of the cutest, coziest photos ever. They were snuggled up in their blanket, sipping champagne and enjoying the unique perspective of Providence from the water. Samantha is silly, and Patrick has this way of trying to not let her know how adorable he thinks she is - but his face gives him away.

We headed to the Pedestrian Bridge for a bit before ending up at Tiny Bar PVD. I had told them how cool the atmosphere was there, and they were excited to go see the outdoor space there and have a drink to warm up. They ordered Hot Toddies, told me all about their love story, families and two cats at home. It was like hanging out with old friends!

Samantha and Patrick met on Hinge, and actually had their first date here in Providence. They went to dinner at a Hibachi restaurant on the East Side, and have been smitten ever since. Patrick had planned to propose in Ireland, but like so many other plans, it was put on hold with the outbreak of Corona Virus. Patrick ended up proposing to Samantha at his own surprise 30th birthday party at Colt State Park, RI. He got down on one knee and Samantha said “This better be real or you’re going in the water!”

As we sat and they shared a drink, Patrick pulled a card out of his wallet. At first I didn’t understand, and he then told me that he has held onto it ever since their first date when Samantha had written this little note on the back of a business card. I am so grateful to be lucky enough to capture this couple’s journey to Mr. and Mrs.

October can’t come soon enough!
